"straight up" - margarita served strained from the ice cubes

"frozen" - margarita served liquidised in the ice cubes

"Jigger" - name for the metal measuring vessel used when making cocktails

Why include a Margarita in a Salt shop?

Well, one of the ways that Margaritas are served is with fine grained salt trimming the rim of the cocktail glass. It brings a flourish of style to the eye and adds a salty taste to compliment the Margarita too.

The Natural Salt Seller says 'Vary the salts you use to achieve different effects':

White Salt
For a pure white salt rim we'd recommend using the Halen Mon Finer Flake Sea Salt, you'll get a really brilliant white flaky effect with a fizzling salty melt on the palette. Not quite as white but achieving a glistening effect with a zingy crunch for the palette we'd recommend our French Fleur White Sea Salt (the crystal shapes catch and reflect light for a bit of bling)

Pink Salt
Colour co-ordinate or compliment the colour of the Margarita or the cocktail glass itself with Peach and Pink Blush Himalayan Fine salt. No bling but the colour variations that are naturally in the salt will look stunning.

Black Salt
Looking for 'Drama and Style'? Then it would have to be the sultry 'black obsidian chips' of Hawaiian black Lava salt. Wow!

How to salt rim the glass

Put your quality salt on a flat saucer. Moisten the rim of your cocktail glass with lime juice or water. Hold your glass upside down and gently dip the wet rim into your salt. If you have wetted the rim thoroughly you should now have a beautifully salted glass rim! …don’t forget to do this BEFORE you put the Margarita liquid into the glass.
